Concrete Pour

The building permit has finally been approved!  The Building Department wanted additional information and some revisions to the plans, which delayed things about three weeks, and then the forms had to be inspected, but now we're ready to pour the concrete.

Once the pouring starts, the work has to proceed quickly before the concrete starts to set (and gets too thick to work), so we had a couple of extra people working on the crew.
Pushing the concrete into the forms
Even Valerie, our architect, showed up to try her hand at working the concrete.  After it's poured into the forms, it has to be leveled and smoothed.

After the tops are leveled and smoothed, the edges are rounded with a special tool so there are no sharp edges. After a few hours, we had all the forms filled, leveled, and more or less smoothed.
