Climbing Diamond Head

On our second day in Honolulu, we got up early for the hike up Diamond Head.

This is Koko Head, another volcano that can be seen on the way to Diamond Head.

The Black Point neighborhood beyond the crater.  This is where Shangri La is -- the mansion is at the extreme right, just behind the crater wall.

This tunnel was actually really dark

Lots and lots of stairs. The climb from the crater floor to the top is not that long, but some parts are very steep.  There are two sections with about 100 steps each.

What a view! Incidentally, the kid who took the photo is from Naperville, IL and the couple to the left are his parents.
